What a flooring installation project involves
Most flooring complaints — cupping boards, cracked grout lines, hollow spots underfoot — trace back to what was underneath rather than the flooring itself. Subfloor preparation is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether the floor is still flat in five years.
We check moisture content and level before ordering material, let wood acclimatise in the house rather than installing it straight off the truck, and prepare the substrate to the tolerance the specific product actually requires.

Common questions
- Can my existing hardwood be refinished instead of replaced?
- Usually, if there is enough wear layer left above the tongue. Solid hardwood can typically take several sandings across its life. We measure it before recommending replacement, because refinishing is considerably cheaper when it is viable.
- Is hardwood suitable for a basement?
- Solid hardwood, no — below-grade moisture will move it. Engineered wood or luxury vinyl plank are built for that environment and will look close to identical once installed.
- How long before we can walk on it?
- Floating floors are usable the same day. Glued or nailed hardwood needs a day, and site-finished hardwood needs longer for the finish to cure — we give you the exact window for the product you choose.
