Overview

What a kitchen renovation project involves

A kitchen is the most demanding room in a house to renovate. It combines plumbing, electrical, gas, ventilation, cabinetry and finish carpentry in one space, and it is the room a household misses most while it is out of action. The difference between a five-week kitchen and a twelve-week one is almost never the labour — it is whether the sequence was planned before demolition started.

We settle the layout, the appliance specifications and the countertop template early, so nothing sits idle waiting on a delivery. Most of our kitchen clients stay in the home throughout, so we seal the work area, run dust extraction, and set up a temporary kitchen point wherever the layout allows.

What’s included

  • Layout design and drawings before anything is demolished
  • Strip-out and disposal of existing cabinetry, flooring and fixtures
  • Plumbing, gas and electrical rough-in, with permits where required
  • Cabinet supply and installation, or fitting of cabinetry you have bought
  • Countertop templating, fabrication and installation
  • Backsplash tiling, painting and finish trim
  • Appliance fit-out, ventilation and final connections

Common questions

How long will my kitchen be out of use?
A straightforward refit in the existing layout runs three to five weeks on site. Moving plumbing or taking out a wall adds time — usually in permits and inspections rather than in labour. You get a dated schedule with the quote, not after the deposit.
Can we stay in the house during the work?
Almost always. We hoard and seal the work zone, run dust extraction at source, and set up a temporary sink and counter elsewhere in the home where the layout allows.
Do I need a permit for a kitchen renovation?
Not for a like-for-like refit. You do if you are relocating plumbing or electrical, removing a wall, or altering anything structural. We prepare the application and manage the inspections either way.
