What a smart home upgrades project involves
Smart home technology is dramatically cheaper and tidier to install while the walls are already open. Retrofitting the same system afterwards means either surface conduit, patch-and-paint work, or settling for battery devices that need managing.
We plan the low-voltage layout alongside the electrical rough-in, so wiring, switch locations and network points are placed before drywall — and specify systems you can actually service later rather than proprietary kit that strands you.

Common questions
- Can this be added to a house that is not being renovated?
- Yes, though the approach changes. Without open walls we lean on wireless devices and existing wiring paths. It works well, but if any renovation is planned it is far better value to do the cabling then.
- Which ecosystem should we use?
- Whichever your household already lives in — Apple, Google or Amazon. We favour devices supporting open standards like Matter so you are not locked to one vendor's future decisions.
- What happens if the internet goes down?
- Anything we install still works manually. Light switches remain switches and locks remain keyed. We deliberately avoid designs where a router outage leaves you unable to operate your own house.
